The Vertical was first to report the suspension Saturday, two days after Oubre was ejected from Washington's Game 3 blowout victory for shoving Boston's Kelly Olynyk. Isaiah Thomas seemed to recognize that when he spoke to reporters Tuesday. He's blocking out all the name-calling as best he can, and said he won't change the way he plays. After the Kelly-on-Kelly scuffle Thursday, Terry Rozier and Brandon Jennings got into it and were ejected in the fourth quarter.
"We have to be aware of how he plays", Brooks said after Washington's Game 4 win.
According to the report Green said, "Kelly Olynyk is a dirty player, man, Olynyk caught [Oubre] in the face and the neck with a couple of elbows". Oubre was kicked out of that game, and suspended for the next one.
The Celtics lead the series 2-1.
Obviously, Olynyk's aggressive style of play is not appreciated by his fellow players.
"I guess that's playoff basketball", Celtics star Isaiah Thomas said. "I know who I am, I know what I do, I know what I stand for, my teammates know, and that's all that matters".
"We made quite a few mistakes early", Brooks said.
The decision was made after head coach Quin Snyder convened with the training staff in the lead-up to Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. I'll keep saying it that this National Basketball Association playoff, besides the Hawks, has been a great one to watch. "The refs were allowing them to hold and grab and do all those things", Thomas said. I mean, that man took a charge on a push. Bojan Bogdanovic, who is expected to take many of Oubre's minutes, also acknowledged the challenge of what's ahead. The NBA suspended Oubre for Game 4, though not everyone agreed with the decision. After Washington put the defensive clamps on him starting in Game 3, he was unable to help the Celtics in another manner. You keep getting hit in the head, you might respond that way. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the three-point line, but just when they looked like they were about to steal a game on the road, they committed eight turnovers in that 26-0 run by the Wizards and never recovered after that.
"It is our defense", said Beal, who had a game-high 29 points.
Celtics coach Brad Stevens, meanwhile, doesn't want Olynyk wasting any of his energy on anything other than the Wizards. "We've just got to do a better job of taking those leads we get and just playing smart basketball down the stretch".
