Bad luck for the Suns or is the NBA Draft Lottery rigged?

19 Mai 2017

Speaking after the draft lottery Tuesday night, Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka noted there is no clear-cut No. 1.

It's not a awful trade-off, given the Kings were supposed to have the eighth pick, but it is another embarrassing moment for a franchise that can't stop having them. Most top-picking teams were coming off dismal seasons.

76ERS: The winners of last year's lottery will really "Trust the Process" if they win even bigger Tuesday.

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - The Boston Celtics have a No. 1 seed and the No. 1 pick. Now it's happened three years in a row.

The Celtics did not make a move, and ultimately took Brown, Guerschon Yabusele out of France, and Ante Zizic out of Croatia with their three first-round picks. His speed is his best attribute, and he has proven that he can play on the biggest stages as he scored 39 points in the NCAA Tournament against Ball and UCLA.

Now Jackson would have you believe he can build a team around Ron Baker, Willy Hernangomez and Lance Thomas - players he talked up at the end of the season more than Porzingis.

But if the Lakers decide to move their pick in an effort to get a superstar free agent like Jimmy Butler or Paul George, the Ball family might have to rethink their plan.

Lonzo Ball's decision to skip a workout with the Boston Celtics, who hold the No. 1 pick, could have major financial implications. It's not about preference is, like I said, to the Lakers, and we get what we do.

It should come as no surprise, therefore, to find out (via Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding) that the Los Angeles Lakers' front office held him in higher regard a year ago than they now hold any of the prospects who could be available to them with their recently-secured second overall pick.

Reid Forgrave of has Jackson going fifth to the Sacramento Kings, behind surprise No. 1 Jayson Tatum of Duke, Ball, Fultz and Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox. The Lakers' rebuild officially starts now.

Defense is always at a premium in a Brad Stevens' coached team, so Boston would love to acquire freshman Justin Jackson of Maryland with the 37th pick. The bad news is Luol Deng and Timofey Mozgov are owed over $100 million combined for the next three seasons. General Manager Rob Hennigan was sacked in April after recent offseason moves failed to result in success.

At No. 6, the Magic might miss out on all three of the top guard prospects. A point guard? How do they feel about Elfrid Payton?

What do you think the Kings should do with the 5th and 10th selections in the 2017 NBA Draft?

While Brown made an impact this season with his athleticism and high basketball I.Q., the other two could be far removed from their chance to play on an NBA roster.

Lottery luck didn't find its way to the Knicks.

It also became clear Porzingis wasn't happy with the way Carmelo Anthony was being treated. Kristaps Porziņģis is getting fed up with the triangle offense.

Thomas was the last overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 draft.

The third such occurrence took place during Tuesday night's lottery in New York City.

Keeping the second pick in the draft, however, changes everything.
