Congressman Calls For Trump's Impeachment During House Floor Speech

19 Mai 2017

Al Green called for President Trump's impeachment in a speech on the House floor on Wednesday, becoming the first lawmaker to do so in that venue.

The committee's top Republicans and Democrats asked for all memos created by Comey related to his interactions with not only Trump, but also past presidents and Justice department officials.

Who do you trust more, Trump or Comey? Other outlets, including The Associated Press, later confirmed the report.

The president fired the FBI director overseeing a lawful investigation of the president's campaign ties to Russian influence in the president's 2016 election.

White House Denial No one from the administration would respond to the memo on the record.

Meanwhile, tensions on Capitol Hill are mounting after Trump seemed to undercut the White House's response to the Comey firing, saying that he was considering the "Russia thing" when he decided on termination.

Putin told a news conference that he would be willing to turn over notes of Trump's meeting with the Russian diplomats if the White House agreed. Trump had already admitted that he had the Russian Federation investigation on his mind when he fired Comey last week.

Comey took notes during the meeting with Trump.

It wasn't immediately clear who within the FBI received or saw the memo, or whether acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe was among them.

The tumult in Washington deepened on Tuesday over allegations Mr Trump had sought to end the FBI's investigation into ties between Mr Trump, Mr Flynn and Russian Federation.

But most Republicans have said the current FBI probe and investigations in the Republican-led Congress are sufficient.

On Monday, Trump reportedly relayed highly classified information from a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria during his meeting with senior Russian officials in the Oval Office last week.

On Tuesday, the House intelligence committee also formally requested similar documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "Trump told Comey repeatedly to 'let it go.' He even got Ivanka to help", the late night host said before airing a clip from the Disney movie Frozen.

A few Republicans have began to call for an independent probe.

"We need the facts", Mr Ryan said.

Democrats were far less sparing in their criticism.

Defining obstruction of justice isn't as black-and-white as you might think. "There are other memos".

"I'm convinced that the president did nothing that he thought was outside the best interest of the country", said Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz. The leaders of both committees have said they are prepared to subpoena those materials if necessary. His comments were reported by The Daily Beast.

"CBS This Morning" co-host Charlie Rose said Wednesday that the show had contacted 20 Republican senators and representatives to appear on the show, as well as White House representatives, and all declined the invitation.
