Rising Pune Supergiant make their first IPL final

19 Mai 2017

Rising Pune Supergiant became the first team to enter IPL 2017 finals. Stokes, the costliest player of this IPL edition, has flown back for national duty after scoring 316 runs from 12 games.

Pune have no ready replacement available for Stokes and will either go with Australian batsman Usman Khawaja who hasn't played yet or New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson. With RPS largely dependent on their batting, Bumrah will be a key player to strengthen MI's case. This was only the second time that they lost three games to the same opponent in the same season. It gives the victor a straight passage into the IPL 2017 final and the loser another crack at making the finale.

MI were the first team to qualify for IPL 2017 playoffs. So, the RPS need to find the ideal replacement on upcoming matches. Courtesy the 9-wicket win, RPS climbed to second position in the eight-team standings, and thereby booked a date with the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 1 on May 16.

It is hard for the RPS to bring any new player at this end of series for finals. "I think we could lift the trophy in the finals as well", Sundar said after receiving the man-of-the-match award. Some of the predictors recommended the name of Australian batsman, Usman Khawaja. Saha played one (good) innings, Manan Vohra played one innings but apart from that none of the others played responsibly. "We have a couple of options (to replace) Stokes", said Smith, who is also the Australia captain. But he also went and join up with the South Africa team. Washington's lengths were magnificent and it was great he did it on a big stage like this. He struggled at the start but quickly turned the things around in Pune's favour as he played an important knock 40 not-out off just 26 balls starting his rampage in the 19th over to help RPS post a fighting total of 162 runs on the board. However, the MI made six chances in the last game batting lineup.

The Vivo Indian Premier League 2017 is on the verge of ending.

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Lendl Simmons, Mitchel Johnson, Mitchell McClenghan, Nitish Rana, Parthiv Patel (WK), Saurabh Tiwary, Shreyas Gopal, Tim Southee, Lasith Malinga, Krunal Pandya, Keiron Pollard, Ambati Rayudu, Asela Gunaratne, Harbhajan Singh, Hardik Pandya, Jagdish Suchith, Jaspreet Bumrah, Jos Buttler, Karn Sharma and R Vinay Kumar.
