US official reportedly says Bennett the reason for not moving embassy

19 Mai 2017

Asked if he understood what Trump's Middle East policy was, one senior official replied: "I'm not entirely sure they know what it is".

Ben-Dahan argued that the United States administration officials who had placed pressure on Trump regarding the embassy and the administration's position on Jerusalem were remnants of the Obama administration, which had adopted a clear pro-Palestinian stance. "They're upset. They are sincerely frustrated and angry". The city is claimed as a capital by both Jews and Palestinians, however, and relocating the US embassy - essentially declaring Jerusalem to be Israeli territory - would raise tensions.

US and Israeli officials have tried to allay concerns.

Israel's Channel Two reported that Israeli officials offering to help plan the event were told by American counterparts it was not their remit.

Israeli Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz said he had complete confidence in the American intelligence community.

Like when the White House inexplicably left Jews out of its statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day and then sent out Trump's controversial counterterrorism aide, Sebastian Gorka, to defend the mistake, only to have him call the criticism "asinine."

"There will be a loss of faith between the intelligence services", he said. Also, a key intelligence source that was stopping airplanes from being blown up might be compromised, so there's that. "Mr. Trump didn't do that".

An Associated Press photographer was also injured in the incident.

Israeli officials have been especially unnerved by Trump.

He said that while cooperation would continue, intelligence professionals would "think twice" before sharing information. Breitbart News, with several alumni occupying key posts in the administration, has not advanced tough criticisms of the president's Israel policy, although it has been critical of Trump on some domestic issues.

"This guy in his heart and soul is very pro-Israel in a serious way", he said, naming among other appointments Nikki Haley, the outspoken USA ambassador to the United Nations.

An arms deal is to be announced during Trump's trip in which Saudi Arabia will purchase $100 billion in USA arms, the official said.

With Trump backing away from his earlier support for hard-line Israeli positions and talking about a peace deal with the Palestinians, Israeli officials say they have no idea what ideas he may bring or concessions he may demand. "Working as partners, we are both stronger and safer as a result". This understanding would offer the Palestinians a good chance of getting their way and being considered part of the Jordanian-Egyptian alliance. But subtle changes and a more careful approach to sharing may be inevitable.

According to Israel's Channel 2 TV station, officials were actively looking into possible locations for a new USA embassy - including the Diplomat Hotel in the Talpiot neighborhood of west Jerusalem, a privately owned building that is home to 500 elderly immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Both individuals spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to relay the sentiments they gleaned from conversations with current intelligence officials.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu challenged United States of America concerns over moving the American embassy to Jerusalem, in what Haaretz newspaper called his "first public dispute" with the Trump administration. This is unlikely while Benjamin Netanyahu remains prime minister of Israel. -Israeli relations, explaining the lack of official Israeli criticism.

The Zionist Organization of America launched two broadsides against a Trump administration it has ardently defended, signaling a growing unease on the pro-Israel right with the president's Israel policies.

"It's possible that high-level information may not be shared for the time being", he said.
