Wenger's future at Arsenal will be decided after FA Cup final

Arsenal's failure to sustain a title challenge over the past decade and repeated UEFA Champions League exits at the last-16 stage-which are frequently humiliating to boot-have increased calls for Wenger to step down from many Gunners fans.

Arsenal have won their last four league games and Wenger expected his side to focus on their own performance ahead of the final weekend of the season.

Whether or not Wenger is to blame remains a point of contention, but he has received support from an unlikely source this weke - star player Alexis Sanchez.

'Perhaps Arsene thought I might be too challenging for him, ' the former England defender said. I don't have anything to say about that. What they like, what they don't like.

"It is our last home game, our fans will be totally behind us and the fact that it is Arsenal will add to the mix, so I'm really looking forward to it". If they like that I carry on, or they don't.

Regardless of which spot they finish in, this season can only be seen as a disappointment for City.

"We are professional and we have to do our job", Wenger said.

He said: "This is normal". This strikes me as more of a fan's fantasy than anything. It is not like some players have never left the club.

Finally, the saga will come to an end after the FA Cup final.

The Belgium global has 24 Premier League goals this season and was poised for a final-day showdown with Sanchez for the golden boot before Tottenham's Harry Kane stole a march with his four-goal haul versus Leicester City on Thursday.

"I think no one has scored more goals in the Premier League as he did at his age". Fail to win and they have absolutely no chance of leapfrogging Liverpool or Manchester City to keep the club's remarkable qualification record alive.

While he puts that down to the French tactician not wanting to be challenged by established Arsenal legends who could pose a threat to him, it hasn't helped him get over the disappointment of being knocked back so many times by the club that he was a symbol for.

"The goal he scored tonight shows what he's about: very good technique in a short space", he said of Sanchez.

Arsenal must beat Everton on Sunday and can finish fourth if relegated Middlesbrough draw with or win against Liverpool the same day.

Manchester City, now in third, are away at struggling Watford and know that their place is more-or-less safe barring a five-goal swing that sees them lose at Vicarage Road and the Gunners beating Everton.
