Dem Rep. Says He Was Threatened With Lynching After Calling For Impeachment

21 Mai 2017

"Charges of obstruction of justice have been a staple of the last two substantial attempts to impeach a president", William Yeomans, fellow in law and government at American University, wrote recently in column for "The Hill". He is showing a sort of personal arrogance by openly saying that "I decide for myself".

A US Congressman says he will formally call for President Donald Trump to be impeached on Wednesday.

I am not suggesting that Donald Trump has been found committing an impeachable offense.

Articles of impeachment were brought against Bill Clinton for perjury (lying under oath) and obstruction of justice, but there is little doubt that there were also partisan motivations behind the charges.

"U.S. officials said that the National Security Council continues to prepare multi-page briefings for Trump to guide him through conversations with foreign leaders but that he has insisted that the guidance be distilled to a single page of bullet points, and often ignores those".

But few have used the phrase as often as President Trump.

In a statement explaining his vote in 1999, Santorum said he believed prosecutors proved that Clinton was "guilty as charged" and that "the objective of this ordeal was never to punish the President, but to protect the republic". The president offered no evidence for those claims.

Richard Nixon is the only high USA official who probably would have been removed from office, but he resigned in 1974 after the Watergate scandal when it became clear his presidency was doomed. "So there is many ways in which Trump is preferable". According to Nomura Bank, as reported by CNBC, the 45th President of the United States is unlikely to be impeached anytime soon, but the ongoing political mayhem may derail his pro-growth agenda. When everyone else couldn't quite fathom Trump as a real-life Manchurian candidate, the black political and pundit class (to its credit) was already gnawing strong at the Trump-Putin link while vigorously questioning the legitimacy of Orange Crush.

It was about Michael Flynn, Trump's national security adviser, who is under investigation by the FBI.

Trump too has complained of unfair treatment.

"After watching the Clinton impeachment I thought I'd never see another one, but I think we're in impeachment territory now for the first time", he told Anderson Cooper during a live CNN appearance.

Today on the floor of the Congress of the United States of America, I will call for the Impeachment of the President between 9am & 10am CST. The act is the obstruction of a lawful investigation of the President's campaign ties to Russian influence in his 2016 Presidential Election.

He was the first member of Congress to call for the President's impeachment.

An impeachment by the House is a step toward removing a president, but that alone can not force him to step down. That way, technically, Nixon was not impeached. But while the rank-and-file hold the line, there is a growing recognition that the president has become a tangible threat to his party. The more he paints it as a "witch hunt" and a conspiracy of media "elites" boxing him in, the stronger the sale to his base.

"I think that what he said is extremely grave, but at this point we haven't dotted all of the i's and crossed all of the t's", said Weaver. The GOP leadership is still ready to wait hoping that Trump will mend his ways and he will start listening to the leadership.

What it comes down to is that senior Republicans have a responsibility to their party and to the nation to intervene and get this administration to shape up. But they'll set the bar very high, and they'll need to engage in a painstaking and laborious process to appease their base, none of which would have hamstrung Democrats if they controlled Congress.
