At least here, for once, Knicks fans have no outrage as none of their players received a vote for any of the teams - and no one was worth making an argument for this time. A postseason record has already been tied with four 4-0 sweeps - all by Golden State and Cleveland, who are a combined 19-0 and en route to what seems like an inevitable third consecutive NBA Finals matchup. Joining those three on the First Team is Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook, Houston Rockets guard James Harden and San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard are the leading finalists for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award, the league announced Friday.
The third All-NBA team includes Chicago's Jimmy Butler, Golden State's Draymond Green, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan, Washington's John Wall and the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan. He was voted to the second team in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
A global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters chose the All-NBA teams. Every media representative in my team had to take two defenders, two forwards and one center. If a player played multiple positions, as James does, votes were counted for the position he plays most.
Davis is the fifth player in UK's history to earn multiple All-NBA honors in a career. Davis joins Cousins, Ralph Beard, Alex Groza and Cliff Hagan as two-time honorees. Leonard was a first-teamer on 96 ballots, second team on three and third team on one.
"I don't want to put that on any one guy", he said.
Wall felt he should've been All-NBA two years ago, when he had a better season than Kyrie Irving but was left off despite being an All-Star Game starter for the first time. He began the season with a 50-point, 15-rebound performance followed by a 45-point, 17-rebound day in his next game, setting the tone for a magnificent year. After I have surgery I'll come back a better player and it showed this season. Harden accounted for 95 points (points and points off assists) against the Knicks, which according to Elias, is the second-highest total in league history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain's 104 vs. "Obviously I feel like I should be a first-team player, but it is what it is". Currently, he is the 47th-highest paid player in the league based on average salary. Iguodala, the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, became even more important for Golden State late in the season after Kevin Durant was injured.
But while James downplayed the snub, his team-mates were quick to offer explanations for why one of the all-time National Basketball Association greats, after one of his greatest seasons (career highs in rebounds, assists and 3-point percentage) is not an MVP finalist. "They're not No. 1 in the East for no reason".
Though he was considered to be in the running, the association revealed recently that there will only be three NBA MVP finalists this year, and LeBron isn't among them.
