Durant not feeling pressure of NBA decider

02 Juin 2017

Finally, the third chapter in this story gets to be written.

"Someone's going to have to step up in the East or in the West if we're not to see [Warriors vs. Cavs] next year as well". Golden State Warriors' JaVale McGee dribbles during an NBA basketball practice, Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in Oakland, Calif. That part honestly surprises me. They hold the home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series. Doing it twice in two years is asking too much of anyone, however, even with a teammate like Kyrie Irving, whose three-pointer in the final minute won the deciding game last June.

This is particularly relevant to free agents Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston, who have been pivotal to the Warriors' success as they have advanced to three straight NBA Finals. Golden State will try to keep him in check with Draymond Green, one of the league's best and most versatile defenders. While Cleveland continued to add depth to its championship winning squad, Kevin Love's emergence this season has also been huge for the Cavs this season. Both teams offenses are sharp.

While battling severe headaches, nausea, and other debilitating symptoms, Kerr has still been a driving force behind the Warriors' dominance. They have netted the Cavs J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye and Kyle Korver.

Defensively the Warriors have the edge.

So yeah, this series a big deal.

"They played great basketball this year". The real question is this: which Cavs defense will show up? They have been better in the post-season but not awesome. "You don't get here without it".

Bench play is always important and the Cavs may be slightly deeper but it may not matter. Or will LeBron James, maybe the best player of all-time (at least the most athletic) pull it off? Tyron Lue and his staff earned a lot of credit for helping find the best matchups to help complete the comeback a year ago.

"It feels a little surreal", Brown said.

Of the two that picked the Cavs, one picked them in seven games, one picked them in six games. "I don't think it's sunk in all the way yet, but it's really special". So how do you pick a victor?

So-called super teams are easier to create if players are willing to take less money than they're worth. I think Golden State comes out guns blazing. LeBron will have to dominate the series and that still may not be enough. The teams split their two meetings in the regular season, including a Cleveland victory on Christmas with Irving hitting another game victor over Curry.

"The whole underdog thing is amusing to me, because, yeah, at the end of the day we are defending our title", Love told reporters.

Often times the simplest answer is the right one.

According to the odds makers in Las Vegas and the number crunchers at analytical sites, the Warriors are the clear favorites to win the series after sweeping their way through the playoffs with a record-setting margin of victory of 16.3 points per game.
