Apple's HomePod Pumps Up the Volume

The HomePod is not expected to ship until December 2017, and it will cost $349, that is almost twice as the Echo ($179) and Google Home ($129) and is expensive. Schiller said devices like the Amazon Echo have poor sound quality, and wifi speakers like Sonos don't have interactive voice assistants.

Apple unveiled its long-awaited HomePod at its annual developers conference taking place this week in the heart of Silicon Valley, enticing lovers of its products with a high-end offering in a market dominated by lower-priced devices from Amazon and Google.

Like devices by Amazon and Google, Apple's HomePod speaker can respond to questions and control smart home gadgets such as lights.

We will have to wait until the tail end of 2017 to see if Apple's HomePod will be a must have for homes and if its can steal back an early lead from its rivals.

But this year, Apple took the opportunity to announce not just a smart speaker, but also a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro, a professional-centric iMac Pro all-in-one desktop computer, as well as updated versions of the iMac and MacBook Pro computers. As a music-playing device, it will also be a challenger to Sonos, whose wifi-controlled speakers are used by many smartphone users for home entertainment.

If there's one thing most would agree on it's that HomePod packs a lot of power under its hood.

The HomePod will price at $349 approximately Rs. 22,454. The firm maintains its buy rating, saying Apple could jump about 4% to $160 from its current price of $153.93. "If Apple had not done this, its customers would embrace Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant". "If you think about putting an Echo in every room times a two-room apartment or an eight-room home.compared to $350 for HomePod you could have eight Dots with our three-pack".

The HomePod will launch in December in the US, Australia, and United Kingdom with a price tag of $349. Apple announced several tweaks for iOS 11 including an updated interface, a redesigned Control Center, an improved App Store, and more. Apple SVP Craig Federighi said the company has spent a year "perfecting it" and adding "intelligent tracking prevention" to lessen ad trackers. Apple also laid some groundwork for augmented reality, the projection of digital features onto real-world surroundings, by giving app developers tools for incorporating AR into their products. The new model starts at $649 and will start shipping next week.

Apple is also bringing the ability to send money to friends or other people through its payment service, Apple Pay.
