Curry, Durant look to keep Warriors rolling

The All-Star forward has been the subject of trade rumblings in the past and his name is certain to surface this summer as contending teams look for that missing piece to close the gap on Golden State.

After the Golden State Warriors knocked out the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals Monday night, James was asked if he believes the league benefits from superstar players joining forces to chase titles.

"It would mean everything".

Later, he was straightforward and serious: "We were heartbroken last year, but this year was our turn".

For the second time in two, the Cavaliers fell short against a Golden State Warriors team fast establishing itself as among one of the best of all time. It is a business.

"I need to sit down and figure this thing out".

After making the NBA Finals for the third consecutive season but falling to the Warriors for the second time, the Cavs have to do some soul searching.

Durant said he has "no question" in his mind he will be back with the Warriors.

Then Curry carried Golden State while Durant healed from a left knee injury that sidelined him late in the regular season. In his lone season with the team, Durant said it's the selflessness that stands out to him. "It's easier said than done obviously, but that's the goal".

We got better when I got hurt. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson didn't have spectacular performances, but they came up big down the stretch when it mattered most.

What made them great: With Cousy controlling a powerful offense and Russell patrolling the paint for the league's leading defense, the Celtics outscored teams by more than nine points per game while going 23-5 and 11-3 on neutral courts - yes, National Basketball Association teams played neutral-site games back then. "And we are going to move forward with that when we have a chance to". Whether or not the Warriors will join those teams remains to be seen.

For the longest time, I held the 1996 Bulls - with Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Kukoc, Harper, and others - in reverence as the greatest team of all time. While Curry didn't have another MVP season, he once again was the true heartbeat of the team, running the show from the point guard position.

The down-on-its-luck city that always seems to take a back seat to San Francisco will get a rare chance to sit back and celebrate itself Thursday in a parade and rally for the hometown Golden State Warriors and their second National Basketball Association championship in three years. And I wrote this a year ago and said it and believed it - the minute he won that championship in Cleveland, he was liberated to leave again. "Like I said, tried to be myself, be aggressive and sacrifice as well".

"This is history. We're going down as one of the best teams ever, and that's a special thing you can not take away from us", reserve Andre Iguodala said.

The acquisition of Lou Williams in February will give them confidence going into his first full season as a Rocket, and if Harden enjoys a similarly dominant campaign, then the addition of another scorer will boost their prospects of stunning the Warriors. Nothing should distract from what we were able to accomplish together and the different kind of ceremonies that have happened around championship-winning teams.
