Thankfully, Kerr grasps that the trip to the White House is about more than just giving Trump a rewarding photo op. There would be no going under screens, no trapping for fear of leaving one open, and no switching and setting either player up with a mismatch.
The acquisition of Lou Williams in February will give them confidence going into his first full season as a Rocket, and if Harden enjoys a similarly dominant campaign, then the addition of another scorer will boost their prospects of stunning the Warriors. Yet, even with that résumé and the presence of perhaps the highest-wattage NHL star in Sidney Crosby, they are still in hockey's upper-middle-class at best.
James, who in 2012 with Miami beat the Thunder in Durant's only other Finals, wound up with 41 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Though the NBA's Stats site doesn't track the number of pick-and-rolls in a given game, the Warriors ran the Curry-Durant pick-and-roll several times in the fourth quarter, including three straight possessions. From coach Steve Kerr to Curry, the Warriors have been outspoken critics of President Donald Trump.
"Oakland represents all of us", Kerr told KTVU. "It was obviously effective". "We have not received an invitation to the White House, but will make those decisions if and when necessary". Andre Iguodala told USA TODAY Sports' Sam Amick, "Hell nah", on if he wants to take part in it. I want those guys making plays. The Finals MVP chooses to call them a group of basketball players that just happen to work "extremely well together".
"I learned this with Phil Jackson and the triangle". It started to feel like he would never get his chance at one. "Coach puts us in position to maximize our strengths".
LeBron James, whose Cavaliers won the title previous year and fell to the Warriors on Monday, said during a visit to Obama's White House in November that his team would "have to cross that road" if it triumphed again under Trump.
"It was different than a lot of the stuff that we've done".
In Game 5, the Warriors dominated.
"We're going to do what our leader [Curry] does", Iguodala said earlier in the week. Non-Bird free agents can be re-signed for up to 120 percent of their previous salary and retain their status, but if Durant wants his full $35.35 million max this summer, the Warriors would have to renounce his rights and sign him as if he had played for another team a year ago. That said, the way he's earned it has to be one of the best payback stories ever. At times, Love made Draymond Green and other defenders pay for over-helping while his shooting helped loosen the defense for Kyrie Irving and James to drive.Still, the questions about his fit against the Warriors remain and Love's Game 5 no-show won't help with the overall perception. Many are already running to the trade machine on ESPN.com coming up with dream scenarios. However, just because Durant became their new superstar it doesn't mean that the Warriors plan on losing the heart and soul of their franchise.
