The ICC Team of the Champions Trophy 2017 includes seven players from the two finalists - India and Pakistan.

"Pakistan was the underdog coming into the final but there was a feeling of destiny about it", Hussey wrote in his column for the International Cricket Council (ICC) describing his first experience on watching the arch-rivals play.

On Zaman, he said: "He is a great impact player, in his first ICC event, he played like a champion, he can be a great player for Pakistan".

A number of former cricket captains on Monday said the historic victory of Pakistan cricket team has given a new identity to Pakistan cricket and re-established its status as one of the best cricket teams in the world.

"You can't take anyone lightly, we never take anyone lightly, we gave it our best shot but they were just more intense and more passionate on the day". "I'm so happy for the nation of Pakistan who have been waiting for this for a long time".

The Pakistan left-arm quick's brilliant burst of three for 16 in 28 balls saw him snare opener Rohit Sharma lbw for a duck and have Kohli, the world's leading ODI batsman, caught off a leading edge for just five. They beat West Indies before the tournament to qualify for the competition in the nick of the time.

"Small margins can be massive but weve only lost a game of cricket, we need to move forward and learn from our mistakes. I think this is something we wanted to do because the millions of people at home were waiting for this". Kohli showed great humility as he congratulated Pakistan.

The South Asians arrived in Britain for the eight-team, one-day global tournament as the lowest-ranked side, packed with players still trying to find their feet at the highest level and given little hope of emerging victorious.

"They also came to express their skill and win a cricket game and they certainly did", Kohli told a news conference.

The bowling lineup was led by Pakistan paceman Hasan Ali, who finished with 13 wickets, and his team mate Junaid Khan.

"We spoke about it in the team meeting", the South Africa-born coach said. Alongside a photo of the hockey team, the paper featured an image of Kidambi Srikanth, who won the Indonesia Superseries Premier badminton tournament earlier in the day. Credit to them, they outplayed us in all three departments.
