Las Vegas gunman may have scouted Boston locations online, including Fenway

Stephen Paddock is known to have booked a room during the Life is attractive festival in Vegas a week before he killed 58 people and injured hundreds.

The gunman behind the mass shooting at an open-air festival in Las Vegas had reserved rooms overlooking music venues at other sites, investigators say.

Among the revellers at the August festival were former President Barack Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha.

It is claimed he also researched hotels in Boston near Fenway Park, where the city's Red Sox baseball team plays.

Garzon told San Diego Fox 5 that after he returned to his 31st floor room, he looked out the window and saw a curtain flapping in the wind from a broken window in Paddock's room above.

The official indicated that Paddock either lost his nerve or changed his plans before targeting a country music festival during the weekend after Life is attractive.

Paddock, who lived in Mesquite, Nevada, fired on the crowd of 22,000 for about 10 minutes, and killed himself as police closed in on him, authorities have said.

Where other mass killers have left behind a trail of plain-sight clues that help investigators quickly understand what drove them to violence, Paddock, 64, had almost no close friends, social media presence or other clear connections to the broader world.

Stephen Paddock, 64, turned a gun on himself on Sunday after firing hundreds of bullets into the crowd gathered for the final night of the Route 91 Harvest music festival, killing almost 60 people and wounding hundreds.

In another tribute to the 58 killed and almost 500 injured, the casino marquees on the Las Vegas Strip will go dark at 10:05 p.m. Sunday to mark exactly a week passing since the shooting.

Wynn said a scenario like Paddock's "would have triggered a whole bunch of alarms here".

He also amassed a huge arsenal of weapons and explosives, and set up surveillance equipment outside his room to detect any approaching outsiders, including police.

"Air terminal powering has not been traded off", McCarran representative Chris Jones said.

Paddock wired Dollars 100,000 to the Philippines days before the shooting, said a United States official who was not authorized to speak publicly because of the continuing investigation. 1,600 rounds of ammunition and explosive substances were found in the vehicle he had left in the hotel parking lot. His vehicle likewise contained 50 pounds of Tannerite, a substance utilized as a part of risky rifle targets.

Paddock booked one room for August 1, 2017, 2 days before the August 3 kickoff.

However, Paddock never showed up for his reservation at the hotel, which sits just across Michigan Avenue from Grant Park.

"If anything has to be done, (police and other emergency responders) are going to do it", said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
