It's pretty good for the Panthers, too. That means Colin Jones and new signing Jairus Byrd both may get some play time at safety alongside Mike Adams on Sunday.

If anything, the Carolina Panthers quarterback looked sharper in Sunday's 27-24 victory over the Detroit Lions than he did a week earlier in an upset at New England.

Some fans have spent the last two weeks playfully calling the Lions undefeated, choosing not to acknowledge the controversial end to the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Funchess had 55 receptions during his final two seasons at Farmington Hills Harrison High School, 126 in three years at the University of MI and 71 in three National Football League seasons before facing the Detroit Lions for the first time as a pro.

"I just think we got into a little bit of a rhythm", Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said. He finished with 6 targets, finishing behind Devin Funchess and Christian McCaffrey for the team lead. He has three catches for 34 yards, highlighted by his 10-yard touchdown grab in traffic in the back of the end zone that gave Carolina its first lead of the game, 17-10, late in the second quarter.

There are a number of plays after every game - win or lose - that people can point to as defining moments in the game.

Dickson finished with five catches for 175 yards, the 10th-best receiving day in team history and the second-best by a Panthers tight end behind Olsen's 181-yard effort vs. Tampa Bay previous year. He entered the game with just 96 receiving yards on six receptions this season. After missing the past two games, Davis made in immediate impact on Carolina's first offensive play by swarming into the backfield and converging with Tahir Whitehead to stop running back Jonathan Stewart for no gain.

Detroit's Darren Fells had a career-high two touchdowns, both in the fourth quarter to give the Lions hopes for a comeback.

Rosie the Riveter was a symbol of feminism and women's economic power during the World War II era.

Newton got into some hot water when he laughingly questioned why a female reporter asked him about Panthers receivers route running? He later apologised after losing an endorsement deal and getting criticised by the NFL. This after a couple of Lions defenders said they wanted to make Newton beat them with his arm.

Newton picked apart a Detroit secondary that had played well early in the season. "It's amusing." Newton declined to provide much of a comment about her absence at the game.

After dispatching Detroit, Carolina faces another division leader Thursday when the Eagles (4-1) land in Charlotte.

"We've got to get past this one quickly and start prepping", Rivera said.

Instead, he was focusing on the Panthers' game against the Lions.
