Police search for gunman's motive — Las Vegas shooting

09 Octobre 2017

So far in 2017, the watchdog group Gun Violence Archive has documented 273 mass shootings in the country.

The gunman checked into the room days in advance, stocked a cache of weapons there and set up cameras inside his hotel suite and in the hallway. We must continue to fight for love.

No one knows why Paddock decided to spray gunfire on the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest festival.

Trump's first reaction came hours after the mass shooting took place, when he tweeted that the attack was a "terrible" tragedy.

The shooting attack in Las Vegas where a lone gunman killed 58 people and injured 515, is said to be the deadliest in U.S. history.

The Washington Post reported that Paddock had also worked as an accountant and had real estate investments. Stephen Paddock texts his brother Eric and his mother, who live in Florida, to ask how his mother is doing and whether they have power, according to Eric Paddock. Paddock worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the mid-1970s, an IRS agent in the early 80s, and in a defense auditing department for a while.

But the sounds of gunfire from videos of the attacks offer a clue.

On Sunday night, suspected shooter Stephen Paddock sprayed bullets on a crowd from a window of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Paddock had scored some big wins over the previous few weeks, pocketing more than $10,000 on several occasions and boasting of one $250,000 jackpot.

It was another several minutes before Paddock's room was found and he was discovered by SWAT members, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police found 23 guns in his hotel room, as well as firearms and explosives at his Nevada home.

What kinds of guns were they? Twelve of the rifles there were fitted with so-called bump stocks, officials said, allowing the guns to be fired almost as though they were automatic weapons.

"He never left my side at all". Stephen Paddock talks to his mother on the phone and sends her a walker because she's having trouble walking, Eric Paddock tells CNN.

Brazo is a 2012 graduate of Sturgis High School and is attending UNLV.

"We have no idea what his belief system was", Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo had told reporters. The Blackstone Hotel overlooks the park.

There is evidence that Paddock tried to survive and escape. "And, you know, who would have ever imagine this situation", he added.

It is believed Paddock turned the gun on himself at that moment.

A Southwest spokeswoman said Tuesday that the offer was good for up to five family members.

His evasion of hotel security and choice of an open-air target has raised major problems for security at future events.

Billboards seeking the public's help in the investigation into the Las Vegas concert shooting will serve as a stark reminder that investigators remain stumped about the gunman's motives.

Paddock had wired $100,000 to the Philippines, a law enforcement source said. "It could have been any of us he unleashed this horror on". His girlfriend, Marilou Danley, lived with him in Mesquite, Nev., but was overseas when the shooting occurred.
