Giants' Brandon Marshall to miss multiple weeks with ankle sprain

Also injuring an ankle in the 27-22 loss to the Chargers was wide receiver Sterling Shepard as the Giants experienced a day of receiver injuries that defied explanation. He switched MetLife Stadium allegiances, joining the Giants with the hope of reaching the playoffs for the first time after spending two seasons with the Jets.

"It's a sad situation", coach Ben McAdoo said.

McAdoo wasn't sure if there were any long-term consequences from the injury. Marshall was undergoing further testing and examination Monday.

With 4:07 remaining as the Giants clung to a 22-20 lead, Beckham was carted off the field when his ankle gruesomely twisted underneath a hit by Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward.

That twisted Beckham's ankle to breaking point, with the talented wideout crumpling down in pain and leaving several Chargers players to call over to the sidelines in order to get OBJ some medical help out on the field. They lost another game and their star player, Odell Beckham Jr.

Before he suffered the injury, Beckham caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. He caught 19 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown over his first four games, racking up at least four catches and 44 yards in all of those contests.

Bundy finished his Lobos career with only 31 catches for 395 yards and two touchdowns at option-heavy New Mexico.

Beckham wasn't the only Giants receiver to receive bad news on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Chargers will play the Oakland Raiders in Week 6 of the National Football League schedule on Sunday, start time at 4:25 PM ET, at Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA.

The NFL's fractured season will proceed without Odell Beckham Jr., J.J. Watt or any immediate resolution to the ongoing controversy surrounding player protests during the national anthem. With four receivers going down on Sunday against the Chargers, and two likely out long term, the Giants could promote Travis Rudolph from the practice squad. But with Perkins still out in Week 5, Darkwa returned and led the Giants in rushing (69 yards) and scored a touchdown.

They also signed Darius Powe, who was cut after training camp, to the practice squad. "With it being Odell getting hurt, all of our receivers, we're praying that everything is okay with those guys and they can get back with us as soon as possible".

"I'm feeling good", Manning said on Monday during his weekly radio appearance on WFAN. "They well-deserved the opportunities".

Up Next: Los Angeles heads back to the West Coast and prepares for a Sunday game (Oct. 15) with the hated Oakland Raiders. The Patriots, New York's Week 6 opponent, have struggled all year against backs, so if Powell and Forte miss any time, McGuire is the main man with potential to break off a big game.
