Man United's Juan Mata: 'Big boost' to have Pogba, Ibrahimovic back

24 Novembre 2017

Gayle's goal was the first United have conceded at home in the Premier League this term, with the last coming in April.

Disaster hit a wasteful Manchester United with less than a minute of normal time left, when Michael Lang's last-gasp strike gave Basel a shock 1-0 Champions League win on Wednesday.

"He affects our football", summarised United manager Jose Mourinho.

"But these are the days you have worked so hard for as a team and what you got promotion for and the excitement of going to this type of stadium. With him we have much more creation".

"I trust the players", Mourinho said before the game, but Shaw is becoming more and more inconspicuous with each passing week.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba were all smiles after their respective returns from injury for Man United.

"He couldn't really hurt me and I actually think I could probably hurt him defensively".

He wasn't able to play in the final but he was a very visible figure on the pitch once the celebrations began following United's victory over Ajax.

Pogba played Lukaku through on goal with a sumptuous through ball yet Tomas Vaclik was equal to the consequential effort with a decent save.

The Red Devils will be hoping to close that gap when they host Manchester City at Old Trafford on 10 December. While Dybala is a versatile player that can play almost anywhere up front, it would likely mean a switch to a 4-3-3 as the go-to formation for United.

"He takes the ball into tight areas, holds the ball, beats a man".

Jesse Lingard steps in for Marcus Rashford, while Romelu Lukaku leads the line as always.

-In an interview with ESPN FC, Juan Mata articulated what a "big boost" it is to have both Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimvoic back. "Lukaku is having to do a lot for himself, but Pogba will make the difference".

Last year in the Europa League and the first part of this season stand out.

However, the move was certainly deserving of a goal and if nothing else for Pogba's pass. A standard, albeit impressive, defence-cutting delivery? "They are both big teams and are showing that".

The busy winter fixture list will see United play nine games in December alone and Mata has revealed that Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Marcos Rojo, who has also returned after seven months out with a knee injury, have given the whole squad a lift.
