The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports the flu is now widespread in 46 states, almost four times as many compared with this time a year ago.

Nearly 700 confirmed cases of influenza have hit the Province of Saskatchewan, but the good news is it looks as though flu season has hit it's peak. "There's a sense across the country that a lot is happening with flu".

A spokesman for Riverside Health System did not respond to multiple requests for comment, however, Riverside is offering free flu vaccinations for people 14-years-old and older on a first come, first served basis while vaccine supplies last, according to its website.

The flu is raging across Oregon, and two children have already died in the last month, according to the Oregon Health Authority. Friday, the agency said seven more children have died from flu complications, bringing the total number to 20 pediatric deaths.

"We have an increase that is alarming to us", Pino said. At the end of the 2014-2015 season there were more than 54,000 cases in the state.

Beginning next week, St. Peter's Health will be implementing flu restrictions at their facilities to help prevent the spread of the virus in the community.

Paul Byers said, "Mississippi is seeing the impact of high levels of influenza this season with more than 100 reported flu outbreaks in nursing homes and other long-term care settings". Doctors want to remind you that the flu and the cold are two different illnesses and the cold can not lead to the flu. Those older than age 65 are experiencing the highest hospitalization rates, but those age 50 to 64 also have seen high numbers. This should include avoiding going to work, school and other public places while ill, and limiting visits to people in nursing homes or hospitals. "Usually what happens with influenza is it keeps changing its RNN and DNN, so it's modifying themselves and that's why we're not getting a good strain target".

According to the latest flu report from the IDPH, about 230 people have been hospitalized due to the flu since October 1, 2017.

Influenza has been reported in all eight counties in CT.

Many of these patients are here because of the flu. There are antiviral medicines that can lessen the impact and duration of the flu.
