The Cleveland Cavaliers was thumped by the Minnesota Timberwolves by 28 on Monday and got crushed by the Toronto Raptors on Thursday despite Toronto playing without two of its better players in Kyle Lowry (tailbone) or Serge Ibaka (suspension). LeBron can't do everything, and he's clearly getting annoyed. Jonas Valanciunas had 18, helping to set the early tone. LeBron seems to be the only player who recognizes that.
MINNEAPOLIS - Karl-Anthony Towns fell one assist shy of his second career triple-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in Minnesota's victory over NY.
Cleveland started the season 5-7, then won 18 out of 19. He finished with 27 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds, while Kevin Love had 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Over the past 11 games, only Ben Simmons has blocked more shots than Delon Wright amongst National Basketball Association guards. Much of the damage was done by the Toronto bench, with the Raptors' subs outscoring the Cavs' second unit 76-48.
Stephen Curry scored 32 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds remaining, and reigning champion Golden State improved to an NBA-best 30-8 with a 125-122 triumph at Dallas. Most interesting was his thoughts on his future. However, he's not entirely sure that feeling will go both ways. Asked by The Buffalo News' Jerry Sullivan about the Cavs' three recent poor defensive showings, James said, "If we put you in the lineup, we'd probably give up even more, because you look like you couldn't guard anybody".
"The daddy side kicks in sometimes".
Told of Lue's suggestion [that some players have an agenda], LeBron James said "I would hope not". "I think, first and foremost, we have to go out there and play extremely hard and inspired". I didn't know if I was ready or not, but I just felt like it was the time.
But an 11-0 start to the second half on Friday kept things more than interesting the rest of the way. Rodney Hood added 15 and Royce O'Neale 11 for Utah, which had been 10-3 when holding opponents to 100 points or fewer.
"But I always say, games like this, you want these games", said DeRozan.
It is incredible to consider that James was hyped as the next big thing when he was only slightly older than his son is now.
The problems at Cleveland continued last night when the team lost their third game in succession against the Indiana Pacers. But things didn't continue at the same rate. I thought it was good for us.
As for VanVleet and his continued solid contributions this season, DeRozan said he is not surprised. To that end, Shams Charania of The Vertical brought word on Friday that the Cavs could move Thompson, though only in "the right deal".
