Karni Sena open to watching 'Padmaavat' ahead of its release: Kalvi

24 Janvier 2018

The film got embroiled in controversy after various Rajput groups alleged that it distorts history, a claim repeatedly denied by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Kalvi said it was a "conspiracy" by the movie's makers to release the movie a day in advance and just before January 26 knowing security will be high due to Republic Day.

"Best news of the day which restores faith in our democracy: Supreme Court suspends ban imposed by four states on 'Padmaavat, ' restrains other states from issuing similar orders", actor Ayushmann Khurrana wrote on Twitter.

"We do not say don't make "Padmavat". I understand he has gone through a lot.

"I am so grateful for my studios Sony and Kriarj Entertainment for accepting my decision as they have also put in the money", added Kumar. "I want to call him here now".

Jan 19: Akshay Kumar decides to postpone release of Padman to February 9, to avoid clashing with Padmaavat release. Deepika and Ranveer's co-star Shahid Kapoor also attended the screening with his family - wife Mira Rajput, brother Ishaan Khatter and mother Neelima Azeem. Akshay is aware of all the situations we have been through. It needs a very large heart. I too believe that non-violence is absolutely necessary. It only approved the film after advising the change in the name of the film to Padmaavat.

Meanwhile, another journalist said that because of these modifications, the film loses many references in the story and the movie lost all its soul because of all the cuts that have been done in the movie.

The SC turned down pleas by Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh governments and refused to modify an earlier order that cleared the decks for the nationwide release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali flick on January 25.

"Padman" revolves around the life of India's "menstrual man" Arunachalam Muruganantham - a revolutionary social activist belonging to Tamil Nadu transformed the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-priced sanitary napkins machine. The film is presented by Columbia Pictures, Hope Productions, KriArj Entertainment and Mrs Funnybones Movies.
