Cleveland Browns star left tackle Joe Thomas is still mulling his playing future, but he endorsed the flurry of trades made by the team last week, including the acquisition of Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Absolutely not. Does that mean the moves were the wrong ones for Cleveland to make? They avoid waiting out visits and competing with other teams in conract negotiations.
A defensive staff is preparing to take on the Browns for the week.
Hue Jackson takes good prospects and makes them into losers. David Njoku is a 250-pound tight end that runs like a gazelle. In fact, his outstanding season earned him Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. The only running back who should be downgraded, based on whatever happens until the beginning of the season, is Duke Johnson.
But Landry's volatile personality became a concern for Miami. Less athletic than Dan Vitale, the team's fullback. The teams also traded late-round picks.
Landry led the National Football League with 112 receptions and finished with a career-high nine touchdowns and 987 yards.
A defense can have a linebacker or slot corner take care of that effectively. The trades should go a long way in improving the product on the field. Landry and Josh Gordon will make a potent wide receiver duo. He can catch the ball effectively, which he did at Penn State and he did at the Combine. So hypothetically, if they want to throw the farm, kitchen sink and then some to entice this year's banner free agent king Kirk Cousins all the money they want, they can. He does that while being nearly 40 pounds heavier, more athletic and averaging more per reception.
Last season, Taylor's top targets among wide receivers were Deonte Thompson (who has four TDs in six years), rookie Zay Jones and Eagles castoff Jordan Matthews.
Cleveland would be sensible to use this year to see how Landry fits into their offense and if he can provide any threat downfield or on the outside.
Meanwhile, quarterbacks want to complete passes. "ON MY MAMA", Landry posted on Twitter shortly after news that he was Cleveland bound broke. Judging just by the stat sheet, that's a really solid three-year span. Clearly, they have nowhere to go but up. It's a trap and most quarterbacks will fall into it. Sherman was due $13 million for the 2018 season and his release gives Seattle a salary cap savings of about $11 million. The Browns having agreed to acquire McCarron previous year, though, makes this a legitimate possibility.
He's likely to get that extension from the Browns.
Coming into the offseason, Cleveland entered the week with a league-high $114.4 million in salary cap space and a league-high 12 selections in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The teams came to terms on the deal Friday, said the people who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because NFL rules prohibit trades from being announced next week when free agency opens and the league's new calendar year begins. They can pick a quarterback No. 1 overall and still realistically land 2-3 starters at other positions before the pick they traded for Taylor even gets made.
