Israeli cafe brings Holocaust survivors together

This year's event, labeled "Bearing Witness: A Holocaust Survivor on Schindler's List", features Halina Silber.

The collection, some of which is pictured here, include a shirt that a former German labour camp inmate fashioned from parachute cloth and a blue-striped coat which a survivor of the Dachau concentration camp kept at home until his death.

Some came in search of family members, some returned in hopes of being able to reshape Vienna into a communist or socialist society.

The transition was filled with struggles for her parents, but they succeeded in building good lives.

"And then (I will) use illustrations, actually take a paragraph or two from each of those stories that reflect the theme", he told HalifaxToday.ca.

"It's beyond being Jewish, it's truly an interfaith program", he said.
