The day before Bill Cosby's chief accuser was to take the witness stand at his sexual assault retrial, a former model and TV personality on Thursday gave jurors her own harrowing account of being drugged and raped by the comedy star in 1982.
Cosby spokesperson Andrew Wyatt on Thursday derided the five additional accusers who testified as "distractors" and "advocates for the prosecution and Andrea Constand".
Then he asked her: "If you were to drink, what would you drink?" and handed her a glass of white wine.
Rochelle, who belongs to Femen, an worldwide feminist group, inscribed phrases like "Women's Lives Matter" and "Cosby Rapis [t]" and the names of more than 50 Cosby accusers on her body.
Thomas Mesereau said that Ms Constand "was madly in love with [Mr Cosby's] fame and money".
Thomas says she met Cosby in Reno, Nevada, after her agent arranged for him to give her acting tips.
Dickinson is a "prior bad acts" witness against Cosby, 80, in his trial on three charges of aggravated indecent assault.
"She has a history of financial problems until she hits the jackpot with Bill Cosby", Mesereau added, referring to a previously undisclosed $3.8 million civil settlement Constand received from Cosby that was bound by a confidentiality agreement. The amount had never been disclosed publicly, but Cosby agreed during pretrial discussions to reveal it.
Bliss projected a photo of the white-clad duo, taken in St. Louis on an unclear date, during the trip on which Thomas said she'd meant to question the TV pioneer about what had happened. "The only principle was money, money, money, money". His first trial ended in a hung jury. But the retrial takes place in a world colored by the #MeToo movement and its reckoning with celebrities using their power to harass and assault women.
Bill Cosby paid Andrea Constand almost $3.4 million in 2006 to settle claims that he had sexually assaulted her two years earlier at his home in Pennsylvania, a prosecutor said Monday.
A Cosby spokeswoman dismissed the women's testimony as "prosecution by distraction". She is not testifying at the retrial.
Rochelle had the names of some of the women who have accused Mr. Cosby of assault written on her torso. "Why do you keep going back and back and back and back?" Because there's something that you want. Mesereau suggested she was motivated to distort the facts of a fun evening when she heard about a possible $100 million windfall from Cosby.
Steele told the jury Cosby built up trust with Constand over time, but in 2004, that trust was betrayed. She said she lost consciousness and doesn't remember anything else about that night in 1989 until she woke up two days later. "They are not even fuzzy, they are not there".
Snapshot one: "I remember waking up on a bed, I don't know whose bed". However, she still couldn't move. The defence team briefly cross-examined Thomas before court was adjourned.
The Associated Press doesn't typically identify people who say they're victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Lasha has done.
Rochelle played Rudy's best friend on the final two seasons of the beloved sitcom between 1990-1992, when she was a preteen.
"I felt his fingers going in and out, very forcefully", she testified. They have claimed to be victims of various degrees of sexual misconduct by the actor. "And when I determined that these women were not being believed I wanted to support them". "Gave me three blue pills and sexually violated me without my consent".
She alleged that after Cosby assaulted her he told her: "Now this is just between you and me".
Cosby's legal team at his first trial was not almost as aggressive in attacking Ms Constand, focusing instead on inconsistencies in her statements to police and arguing the pair had a romantic relationship.
Constand never reported the assault for roughly a year because of "an element of fear" according to police reports but was plagued with stressful nightmares about it for months.
Mesereau then sought to paint her as a serial user of cocaine and pills and attacked her over her relationship with Sylvester Stallone, accusing him of telling him she was pregnant with his child.
Cosby has denied all accusations of non-consensual sex. Prosecutors in Montgomery County filed the current charges after reopening the investigation in 2015. But the price tag and other details of that agreement had remained a secret until Monday. Before the retrial, which is set to begin on April 2nd, here's a quick refresher on what has happened so far.
