The World Health Organization said on Wednesday that 43 people had died in Saturday's attack on the town of Douma from "symptoms consistent with exposure to highly toxic chemicals", and more than 500 in all had been treated.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Monday that the President still wants to pull United States troops from Syria once ISIS is defeated there and rejected the notion that his comments about a future withdrawal may have emboldened the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Peskov wouldn't say if Moscow could use a Russia-U.S. military hotline to avoid casualties in a case of a U.S. blow, saying only that "the hotline exists and has remained active". The new tweet from President Trump immediately boosted stocks and other risky assets and is being interpreted as a potential climb-down from American military action, which had seemed imminent. Donald Trump tweeted, "Get ready Russian Federation because the missiles are coming nice, new and smart. Because we have seen that red lines that go unenforced just encourage further provocative action by Assad", he told reporters in the Capitol on Wednesday. His Russian and Iranian backers will ensure that.

McKenzie said 105 US and allied missiles were fired, of which 66 were Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from aboard three US Navy ships and one Navy submarine. This was the first significant use of chemical weapons in a war in which 100,000 tons of chemical agents would be used by both sides to kill nearly 30,000 soldiers and injure 500,000.
"Our relationship with Russian Federation is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War", Trump said in a tweet.
Officials say the president is also considering targeting supply flights sent by Iran and economic sanctions against Russian Federation and Syria.
