Microsoft Announces Windows 10 April 2018 Update Release Date

30 Avril 2018

Below we have outlined some of the new features in the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, which include Timeline, Focus Assist, Dictation, Edge Improvements, automatic snapshots in Hyper-V, enhanced privacy, and much more. Essentially a history of the apps and files you had open earlier that day or week, Timeline allows you to see what you were doing on the PC you're now using and other devices, and resume from where you left off.

Timeline also works on devices running Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating system, via Windows 10 PCs, provided Microsoft's Edge web browser or the Office 365 productivity suite is used, and people are signed into their Microsoft accounts.

Focus Assist is another key feature, and will disable notifications for a certain amount of time or at certain times of the day with the aim of helping you focus on the task at hand. Head to the Settings menu, tap on Update & Security, then click on Windows Update and then hit the magical "Check for Updates" button until Microsoft decides on sending the update to you. The Update Status section will show if your system is ready to be upgraded. Remember, you won't receive the update notification until May 8 since right now this is only available via manual download.

For individuals, Microsoft has also been using Windows to steer people to ad-support services such as Bing searches or as a portal for its Xbox gaming system.

Cortana doesn't get anywhere near as much hype as Amazon's Alexa assistant.

The latest update to Windows 10 from Microsoft was released this morning.

I've noticed how it can be faster to say something out loud than it is to write it out, and that's why Windows 10's improved Dictation is worth mentioning here. "Our hope is that you'll have more time to do what matters most to you - create, play, work or simply do what you love".

Finally, with this update Windows 10 users with Cortana enabled can control smart home devices from ecobee, Honeywell and Nest.

You can find the full list of updates on this link. Users on the new Redstone 4 update will be able to mute and unmute tabs. There's also a couple of other options that are more direct. Also new is the ability to save your address and payment preferences to make filling out payment forms easier (something Chrome and others have long done), as well as the ability to print clutter-free versions of articles you are reading on the web.

Each of these new capabilities will allow IT to simplify their modern workplace and empower end users, while enabling them to protect and secure corporate assets.

You can download a Windows 10 disk image (ISO file) from Microsoft.

A feature called "Focus Assist" will allow users to silence notifications when they want to concentrate on a task at their computer, similar to how its Do Not Disturb mode worked previously.
