Abe hints at Japan-North Korea talks to resolve abduction issue

Pompeo traveled to North Korea for the second time this week and returned early on Thursday morning with three American citizens freed from prison in North Korea. As Trump acknowledged in another tweet, the Korea opening was in part facilitated by neighboring China, which joined other members of the UN Security Council in tightening economic sanctions against the Kim regime in spite of Beijing's long trading and political relationship with Pyongyang.

President Donald Trump and Kim Jonh Un have agreed to the first face-to-face North Korea-U.S. summit since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.

Trump also mentions how he didn't think this outcome was going to happen, but frankly, it did - leading Colbert to joke about us thinking the same thing about Trump becoming president.

They appeared exhausted but in excellent spirits, flashing peace signs and waving their arms as they emerged from the aircraft.

After her talks with Pompeo, she took pains to "emphasize again that the U.S. military presence in Korea is a matter for the ROK-U.S. alliance first and foremost". "This is a special night for these three really great people and congratulations on being in this country", Trump told reporters at the airbase.

Many traits originating before the 1950s remained shared, but while much of the art and music in South Korea over the last 65 or so years would be considered global in nature, North Korea embraced a self-sufficient philosophy and produced most of its own.

The freed prisoners appeared exhausted but in excellent spirits, flashing peace signs and waving their arms as they emerged from the aircraft.

Kim also was reported to have "accepted the official suggestion of the US president for the release of Americans who have been detained in the DPRK for their anti-DPRK hostilities", and gave an order to grant "amnesty to them for their repatriation". They later gave the president a round of applause. By doing so, they said, Washington is "prepared to work with Pyongyang to achieve prosperity".

The veracity of the report is still in question, but the claims seem consistent with those of the defectors' former colleagues, who spoke out against the alleged kidnapping shortly after the defection went down two years ago.

"The next few weeks will be critical, requiring air-tight coordination between our two countries", Kang said. You might have seen the number eleven floating around, but the State Department has no record of that 11th person ever being detained in the first place.

The ceremony, which also featured a giant American flag suspended between the ladders of two firetrucks, emphasized Trump's penchant for the dramatic as he raised expectations for the summit.

His announcement came just hours after three Americans who had been held prisoner in North Korea arrived at a United States military base outside Washington, having been released by Kim as a gesture of good faith ahead of the summit.

Family members of prisoner Tony Kim saying they "thank God" for his safe return.

When asked if he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, Trump laughed and replied, "Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it".

"The highly anticipated meeting between Kim Jong Un and myself will take place in Singapore on June 12th".

She said the United States troop presence in the South for the past 65 years has played a "crucial role for deterrence", peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.

Kim made a decision to grant amnesty to the three Americans at the "official suggestion" of the US president, said North Korea's official news agency, KCNA.
