Celtics have Cavaliers in 2-0 hole

16 Mai 2018

Jaylen Brown scored a team-high 23 points for the Celtics, while Terry Rozier finished with 18 as six different Boston players posted double-digit points. He finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and exited the game to a well-deserved standing ovation from the TD Garden crowd. Kevin Love played strong all game with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

The Celtics will have three days to sit on a 2-0 series lead.

And with the way he's playing during this postseason run with the Boston Celtics, this just might be the year.

We're talking no cap space to add a free agent, nearly no trade value for anyone on their team, and four guys in Rodney Hood, Larry Nance, Jordan Clarkson and George Hill - all of whom they traded for at the deadline - who are making basically zero impact in this series. The Celtics have won only one game on the road this postseason-the OT thriller in Philadelphia that arguably came down to a couple bounces. This wasn't the Cavs best effort, but you have to give the Celtics credit for putting Cavs in a position to have such a poor game.

Knowing this, and knowing he didn't really have the personnel to do much about it, Lue chose to employ game plans that just focused on simply outscoring the opposition. "He's the guy we really, really lean on".

The Celtics defended their home court again Tuesday night.

Tempers flared with 3:49 to play with Boston leading 97-89. Boston was on top 84-77 entering the fourth quarter. That or when Jeff Green blocked a Greg Monroe shot. Smith was given a flagrant foul on video review - with Smart and Smith each getting technical fouls - as Horford hit a pair of free throws.

Horford's jump shot with 2:54 remaining pushed the Celtics' advantage to 103-89. Rodney Hood scored two points in 11 minutes and was a minus-7.

The Cavaliers led 55-48 at halftime. But fortunately for the Cleveland Cavaliers, their megastar ultimately returned to action after briefly heading to the team's locker room following a second-quarter collision with Boston Celtics rookie forward Jayson Tatum.

The Cavaliers said James had a neck sprain.

LeBron put up a King-like performance in Game 2 with 42 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. He was my matchup, and I think they did a great job of communicating throughout the whole game, knowing where I was and knowing where our teammates was. "We've got to be tougher mentally and physically".

Lue said numbers showed that in the last three years, out of all the players that have guarded Horford over at least 30 possessions, Thompson is No. 1 in the league defending him. "We see that", Lue said to reporters after the loss.
