Apple 'Measure' app in iOS 12 threatens many existing measuring apps

Student ID card support - Apple Wallet will now support your student ID cards, letting you open dorm rooms and do anything else you'd use it for. And, yes, that means once you got the Home app on your Mac all set up, you can ask Siri to turn on your house's smart lights, or lock the doors, etc. And iOS developers will be able to port their apps to the Mac as early as next year.

There was no new hardware announced at WWDC this year.

For starters, after a series of updates named after mountain ranges, Apple has been inspired by the Mojave desert, particularly during the nighttime. So let's dive in to see some more details on the matter.

Apple also confirmed that Dolby Atmos support has finally arrived on Apple TV 4K.

Don't get too excited quite yet, though. It will automatically detect when you start a workout and track your activity for you. Mojave also comes with a new way to declutter files by using "stacks", which are essentially automatic groupings of files types, as well as items with specific dates and other tags. A new screenshot menu allows you to capture a screenshot, which will show the preview in the corner. Even Screenshots have been improved in Mojave with the introduction of a video capture. MacRumors discovered the change in section 3.1.1 of the App Store Review Guidelines, which adds a section stating that non-subscription apps may now offer an explicit free time-based trial period as a zero-dollar in-app purchase.

A big trend among the update is adding more capabilities to the ways Apple users quickly interact with documents and photos, like the ever-present Finder window.

Overall, Mojave seems to be a nice update that brings welcome usability and security features to the platform. It also has the same name as my cat, so good choice Apple. The Mac App Store has also been updated with the same experience as iOS, which features rich editorial content to discover the right Mac app, while tabs such as Create, Work, Play and Develop helps users to find the app for specific goal. While the iOS 12 beta seems more stable than past iOS beta 1s, it still has its own issues and nuances that will quickly grow old if you run it on your day-to-day device. Just look at any object through your camera to see its measurements.

The iOS 12 update will be available to all devices going as far back as the iPhone 5S and the iPad Mini 2.

Beyond those focused on social media, Apple announced a slew of other security features, including the fact that Safari now also automatically creates, autofills and stores strong passwords when Mac users create new online accounts and flags reused passwords so users can change them. For example, the Home app should make it convenient to monitor your smart devices, such as baby monitors and cameras right from the Mac.
