With their 3-0 series lead, the Warriors are one win away from securing their second National Basketball Association title in as many years since adding Durant in free agency in the summer of 2016.
Though James would be the clear choice statistically, having carried an unreal load the entire season, unfortunately he is without enough support to warrant a fighting chance against a stacked Warriors team.
But the Warriors improved to 10-2 against the Cavaliers since Durant joined Golden State before last season. "We just have to come out Friday and not give in". LeBron James is averaging 34.5 points and nine assists while Kevin Love is averaging 15 points and 10.3 rebounds.
Durant added shot 6-for-9 from the three-point line, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.
Kevin Durant drills a clutch 3-pointer with under a minute left to give him a playoff career-high 43 points.
"K.D. had one of his games that will go on his highlight reel and one that was incredible even by his standards".
"That's the challenge right there", he said softly about the Warriors and their four stars: Durant, Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green.
"We got stagnant", Love said.
"Kevin was the story in the first half just keeping us in the game", Kerr said. The Cavaliers had the hottest first quarter in Finals history past year, scoring a record 49 points. "I think that was mostly it".
Curry's scoop shot put the Warriors up 98-97 and defensive specialist Andre Iguodala, who didn't play in Games 1 or 2 because of a knee injury, came up with a steal under the basket. We have a lot of talent as well but we've been in position where we could win two of these three games.
They were asking for trouble.
"I thought we would have to face him for a while", James said. "They're not going to beat themselves". That's what this team does. "The crowd is going to be into it. LeBron is going to try to will them to victory".
So this series is just about finished, or at least, that's what the history books say. Teams that have fallen behind 3-0 in the playoffs are 0-131.
The first two games of the series had the same outcome but were much different games. If James has an off night, Cleveland is cooked.
"Yeah, I actually said the wrong thing", Green said. But I'm not done playing basketball yet, so I don't really look at these as defining moments. "I've just got stay locked in".
"On his way out of the arena, Kendrick Perkins stopped in the hallway and stuck his head in the interview room to see who was at the podium".
