The cause of death is believed to be suicide. This was also just days after Bourdain bought a moody painting with the ominous title "The world is falling down, I am learning to live with it".

What struck Razon most during their discussion was Bourdain's ability to weave through the multipronged subjects and rightfully ask the most sensible question at the most appropriate time.

Meanwhile, Mr Obama posted a picture of himself on Twitter eating noodles with Bourdain in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Bourdain was also honored by many of his CNN colleagues, including Don Lemon and Wolf Blitzer, in the hour-long special "Remembering Anthony Bourdain".

This handout image taken on Monday June 4, 2018, and released by Jean-David Schroeder on Friday June 8, 2018, shows Julien Schroeder, center, the chef of the Petite Venise restaurant in Colmar, eastern France, posing with his wife Virginie Schroeder, center right, Eric Ripert, 2nd left, and Anthony Bourdain, right. Those days where I felt like I had nailed it, cracked the code, and had finally shed the pain from the past year and was back to my old self.

Bourdain, 61, was found dead on Friday in France, where he'd been working on an episode of his show Parts Unknown which explores culinary traditions around the world. He was found unresponsive by his close friend and fellow chef Éric Ripert.

A USA report released in June 2018 found an uptick in suicide rates in almost every state since 1999.

One note said: "Thank you for what you gave to this world, a deeper understanding of culture and food". "It's impossible to fathom how quickly one's life can change". Thank you for making food so exciting.

"It's amusing how his own production team describes him as generally a "quiet and reserved" kind of guy unlike how you see him in his on-camera persona", Razon said.

Chandra, who went to the same culinary school as Bourdain in NY, remembers meeting him in 2001. I've lost a dear friend today, and we mourn with the rest of the world. While it was revealed that the renowned TV host hung himself to death, new details have emerged redarding the death scene. He eventually became executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in 1998.

Suicide is a growing problem in the United States, where rates have increased by 25% nationwide over almost two decades ending in 2016.

All three network nightly newscasts in the US featured the "lifeline" number, 800-273-8255, and encouraged people to call for help.
