At Moscow's Luzhniki stadium where the match took place, Croatian supporter Robert Zeljko, 31, was in tears during the ceremony at the end of the match to hand out the winners' medals.

This is the moment World Cup victor France, led by goalscorer Paul Pogba, gatecrashed the post-match press conference of manager Didier Deschamps to dance on tables and spray gathered journalists with water.

Antoine Griezmann said he can not wait to bring the World Cup home after helping France win the competition for a second time by beating Croatia 4-2 on Sunday.

Griezmann contributed four goals to the collective cause, including a penalty in a 4-2 final victory over Croatia, while his delivery from set-pieces proved instrumental throughout the tournament.

The manager singled out Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, the final's man of the match for leading the group. He has done so much already.

Never before has a player representing Los Rojiblancos won the World Cup, yet three have now done so at once. Certainly Griezmann, Pogba and Olivier Giroud all shine, and the defenders such as Samuel Umtiti and Raphael Varane helped make a splashy team also solid. Here, for the last time, we predict the 2018 Galacticos and it's clear who Madrid should sign. The substitutes were not in a mood. "The water carrier is carrying champagne now". Even as a player Deschamps eschewed aesthetics for efficiency, and now he has focussed on building a side which would play well as a team overlooking some immensely talented Frenchmen with top European clubs.

Asked about the different backgrounds of his team-mates after the game, Griezmann said: "That's the France we love. It's the same in our team".

Due to Qatar's extreme summer temperatures, the event will be the first winter World Cup held in the Northern Hemisphere. Image copyright Reuters Image caption France's coach Didier Deschamps celebrates with his team, 20 years after he led France to victory as captain.
