Indeed, the seven-point winning margin surpassed by a point the gap achieved by Paul McGinley's side in Scotland four years ago. They combined for three of the U.S.'s six points heading into the singles matches on Sunday.
Wildcards Henrik Stenson, Ian Poulter and Sergio Garcia also played leading roles for Europe.
One of golf's great mysteries continues: Why is Woods' Ryder Cup record so lousy? Johnson fell to 3-1 while Poulter moves to 5-0-1.
Mercifully (and after some greased palms), viewing was secured after returning to the Strip and the question of "can we pull this off?" emanated. Certainly it was a tight one, with neither player going more than 2-up. He had to hand the Italian golfer the trophy for his own Quicken Loans National in July - where Woods finished 10 strokes back. Spieth went 3-2-0 and didn't sit out any matches. "I think that one will be replayed for a long time to come", said Finau.
"I know everyone wishes they had played better and I wish I probably would have done some things differently as well", said Furyk.
Most importantly, European captains are in touch with their players. Woods and Mickelson are 1-7 in Ryder Cups where they both play.
"Realistically, this could very well be my last one", he conceded. This is a hard golf course and the Europeans were much better prepared for it. "Last week I was making a video at the top of the East Lake clubhouse, just watching him win his 80 event".
Fleetwood had shared in a sensational partnership with Molinari, winning four out of four matches on the first two days.
Asked to confirm that the account is hers, she said, "I can't really say".
"History will show me and everybody on that team that this is not over".
Molinari wasn't the only history-maker. Took care of Spieth 5 and 4 to ensure he added his first Ryder Cup point to his personal tally.
By the time Garcia won his match, 2&1 against Rickie Fowler, the Cup was already in the bag. Still, it had plenty of interesting moments, particularly at the final hole. Those four were a combined 9-4-1. Woods is 4-1-2 in singles, his last victory coming in 2010 - against Molinari. At one point, they made six out of eight birdies on the back nine, and only one person was in the hole at a time.
"It has been an incredible week", Finau said afterwards. "I controlled my nerves pretty well". I know it's real. "If there was any doubt about me being a pick, there shouldn't be anymore".
Bjorn was on the hotseat some after the selection of Garcia, who had not been in very good form this season. He missed the cut in all four majors this year.
"It feels great but it's not about me", he said. Given the narrow fairways and punishing rough, it was clear the 48-year-old wouldn't be much help to the Americans.
"I think I got it right", Bjørn said.
Reigning British Open champion Molinari defeated five-time major victor Phil Mickelson 4 and 2 as Europe took an insurmountable edge over the favoured Americans in the biennial team showdown at Le Golf National.
Molinari has been transformed since he started working with Dave Alred, an elite performance coach who helps players improve the mental side of their game. He was the lone player from his team in the field. I couldn't have dreamt of what they brought on the golf course. It was a tight golf course. And you know, we came out today and made a decision to play him 36.
If nothing else, it's time for Tiger to leave the Ryder Cup stage. The Europeans have no advantage there, at least not yet.
