It also called into question whether the legal system provided adequate protection of Kelly's alleged victims.
"Making a song with R. Kelly was a mistake", he told Jamilah Lemieux of his 2015 single with R. Kelly and Jeremih "Somewhere in Paradise". "That [dream hampton] quote makes it look like I'm protecting him", he wrote in another tweet. "And he never noticed it was gone". "He'd be daddy", said Van Allen.
But after the footage leaked out, Van Allen admitted to Kelly that she'd stolen the tape.
"Calling in a noncredible threat to the NYPD to interrupt our screening is an act of desperation from people who don't want these truths shared with the world", executive producer and showrunner Dream Hampton said in an email to CNN at the time. These men who were around Kelly and remained quiet about these underage sexual relationships and helped him recruit these young girls are just as guilty as Kelly because they were present during those years and they didn't do anything to stop it and bring him to justice. He had them take lie detector tests, the guy and me. According to TMZ, Kelly says he has has audio recordings which prove Lifetime knew "some of the girls are lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back now". Kelly said her decision to speak out about her experiences wasn't because Kelly stopped giving her money.
"I just didn't know that there was a point in time when they were talking about killing me", she concluded.
John Legend is one of the few musicians who agreed to appear on the R Kelly documentary
The Lifetime Channel showed the first of the docuseries' three installments, and the bombshell exposé did not disappoint the throngs of people who have developed a hatred for the singer's alleged child sexual abuse.
Of course, one of the other revelations in the series comes from Kelly's former personal assistant, Demetrius Smith, who admitted to "forging papers" so that Aaliyah would be listed as 18 years old when she and Kelly got married, even though she was only 15.
The allegations are subject to criminal prosecution in several U.S. states including IL, where R. Kelly lived as a resident of Chicago.
"I have some 19-year-old friends, but I don't like anyone illegal if that's what we're talking about", Kelly said. I'm a lover of words, photography, books, travel, animals and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite the many claims he kidnapped, assaulted and brainwashed the girls, the star denied any wrongdoing.
The six-part, three-night special aims to expose Kelly's longstanding pattern of mental, physical and sexual abuse of young girls and women throughout his almost 30-year career.
