Washington House OKs step toward year-round daylight saving

11 Mars 2019

It's that time of the year once again where we turn our clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time.

DST was implemented haphazardly for decades, until Congress passed the Uniform Time Act in 1966 to bring some order to the system. Many El Paso residents attending the university face longer commutes to get to class, 45 minutes to an hour in some cases. US Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott are hopeful, however, that this will be the last time it's done in Florida, per a report by ABC Action News. Well, everyone except Hawaii, Arizona, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands since those areas do not observe DST.

If the Third World War ever breaks out, the Brits will be up by walk-of-shame o'clock and back in bed by the end of Coronation Street.

Rick Scott signed - a bill in 2018 agreeing to let the sun shine an extra hour longer year-round, U.S. Sens. The clocks officially change at 2 a.m. local time wherever a person is in the country.

Daylight saving time ends November 3. Either way, the new task force won't be done until after we "spring forward" in 2020.

The new time differences will be in effect until November 3 when the USA will end observing DST. One of the purported virtues of the switch has been that it saves energy. The most common symptom of losing this hour of sleep is feeling worn out, doctors said. Don Smithberger, St. Clairsville's director of services, said his crews will be out adjusting the lights for crosswalks. Heating and cooling are much bigger factors than lighting when it comes to energy consumption, he said.

"You may think, 'That's not going to happen to me, ' but that alarm is really your insurance policy and could potentially save your life", said Captain Tyk. States can adopt year-round standard time, but the federal Uniform Time Act does not now allow for year-round daylight time.

In November, California voters passed a ballot measure to permit the state Legislature to establish daylight saving time year-round if federal law changes.

When Does Daylight Saving Time End?

However, that hour shift in time can mess with our sleep patterns and internal clocks, as well as cause internal strife if we are an hour late to appointments or engagements. He said that while there were no imminent changes planned in British Columbia, 'we are closely following developments on the West Coast of the U.S'.
